Default Negative Video Sync Offset???

Can any of you describe a situation where I would need to modify my QT offset to a negative quarter-frame number? A number as seemingly incomprehensible as -65? This was a downloaded H.264 QT that I converted (as I do all my QTs) to DV. I was under the assumption that it would/could only ever be a positive offset to make up for the inherent delay in the QT output process. I checked and rechecked, but the picture started WAY early compared to where it was on the timeline.

I rebooted everything, twice, with no improvement.

Because this was accompanied by other flaky video related behavior, I ended up having the video ingested in another room, and loaded it up by playing it into the Mojo. That seemed to do the trick.

I just couldn't wrap my head around that offset.

I believe I had this problem 2 weeks ago. Try upgrading to cs4 (that worked for me). It could be a bug in cs3 that Digi doesn't specifically address. Compare the sync between out the firewire and watching in the QT window.

Best of luck

I also had a similar issue recently. I had to use a -100 offset. but it was fine when converted to MFX file. I noticed the session started at 00:10:00:00 and the quicktime was at 01:00:00:00. when i moved the quicktime to the session start there was no problem. then we saw the CS4 update which said this:

Mac Only:
Fixed: A QuickTime Movie Played Using Mojo or Mojo SDI Could Jump Out of Sync (Item #100497)- This would only occur if playback crossed 35min-45 seconds from the session start

So basically any quicktime movie past 35min-45sec from the session start would be out of sync.

Thanks guys... will consider the upgrade to cs4.

I've also been able to repeat this behavior. It only happens when I have Avid video and QT video in the same session. They're on different tracks obviously, but whenever I have mixed video media in this way, the QT becomes unstable.

Importing the session, without the avid track solves the problem.'
