Default beginner pro tools problems

The operating system held off interrupts too long if this occurs frequently try increasing the "H/w Buffer Size" in the playback engine panel. (6086)

This is what pops up when i am recording I get about 15 seconds into a track and stops, I have done what it said to to with the buffer size and the sample rate , and the cpu usage, but it still continues, i even bought an external 80gig hard drive but none of this works I have a fairly new computer with a gig of ram. any help at all would be great..

Please start by reading General Troubleshooting thread, try all of the suggestions there, especially checking compatibility (this is very important; should be compatible and is compatible are not the same), and finally post your system specifications using the instructions at the end of that thread (we don't even know which Digidesign hardware you are using...).

Try increasing you buffer size to 1024 samples. I have the same problem, and this works for me on an MBox2.

This problem is all over the forum. And the standard response is to check the troubleshooting guide.
I have. None of the suggestions solved the problem.

Check for compatibility is another standard response. But unless I'm missing something on the site, there isn't much compatibility information to check. Yes it says how much memory and CPU power, and to avoid a few Intel chipsets, but there are thousands of different systems out there, and the compatibility grid I saw only listed a few.

This is a very frustrating problem, with no answers except as stated above. At this point I have to believe that it's a Didgidesign problem. It's too common of a complaint on these forums.

I have a very fast new machine, I'll post the specs below, but can't run protools without a 1024 sample buffer size.

Also either the MBox2 or the Digidesign ASIO drivers stink. Try the MBox2 with another DAW application like Sonar or Reaper. I have to correct for around a 3500 sample latency to make recordings line up.

If anyone has any information on this besides "check the troubleshooting guide" please let me know.
I realize the steps in the guide are important, but they don't solve this problem for me and many others.

Is your firwire card approved? Are you sure your drives are operating in DMA mode.

I had the same problem when I first started...if your computer has a built in wireless internet connection, you have to disable it when using protools, otherwise protools messes up. You have to right click on 'my computer' then 'properties' click 'hardware' then 'device manager' and right click on the wireless connection and click disable...then do the same thing, but enable to get it back
