beginner on pro tools some help please

Hi I use pro tools 7.3 and I would like to ask these 2 following questions:
1) When I record or play a session in pro tools it stops showing me what is played in the end of the window and shows a little blue button , how can I fix this so it continues to show me what is played along with the audio?

2) I don't really understand at this point what is the difference between samples and ticks, anybody can explain me that?
