But just to take it a step further - I don't think price wise it's a cheaper option - not red net.....a step away from avid? Yes but you are still going to go into debt

Perhaps, but with a modular setup I won't suffer the same panic and sudden expense that happens when support is dropped on proprietary gear.

I went to a demo of the S6 control surface. You cannot even swipe across the "Select" buttons on several channels - unlike the Pro Control - as it has "Swap" buttons in between each one. You can do it on the touch screen, but then you might as well just have an iPad controller. What a joke. Another ill-conceived product from Avid. And they have the nerve to deliberately kill off Pro Control for the sake of a 591KB driver.

I will not buy another Avid product until this decision is reversed.

Time to learn Cubase I suppose. It will never be reversed.

I'm rebuilding my music computer, and Cubase 7.5 is sitting there ready to be installed...I'll put PT 9 back on there for my old stuff and for collaboration, but Cubase will be my "main" DAW.

Cubase does offer me some workflow advantages, but not enough to merit changing from PT. Avid has made some business descriptions that, while I agree with them, I believe will result in Pro Tools' "industry standard" status eroding in some segments of the music industry, which is the sandbox I'll be playing in.

But I will keep my Pro Tools skills sharp...as someone once noted, "The only constant is change"...

I do not work for Avid (their loss)...my only relationship with Avid is that of a customer (when I'm not too poor to buy stuff, like now)...and that hot administrative assistant...that's more of a "thing" than a "relationship" (that should keep them guessing for a while...)

Just rockin'...what more is there?

The company stock prices took a dive when Avid purchased Digidesign.

The glory days are over. Many of the excellent design staff have bailed since that time.

If they continue to crash until it is no longer viable as a company, and it gets bought out by someone with a clue how to treat and keep valuable customers - would any of us be sad ?

Default Control|24 and ProControl with Pro Tools 11?

I don't know why no one ever says Studio One!!! (I love it personally)

Never used cubase nor Nuendo....moral is there are many oPTions and that is good for the user

I personally am happy with PT and haven't been burned by a big loss of investment.

I just completed a lengthy mixing project for a client (an Icon owner himself) and he was blown away by the Pro Control and my use of the Matrix section.

Pro Control with Pro Tools 10 still blows away everything I have tried for speed of operation and workflow.
