Default ADR and playlists

just recieved a session from a studio, for some reason they have recorded everything onto a seperate playlist

they just had one actor to record and instead of having a one playlist with the last/ approved take I have 107 playlists (x 2 tracks ) all with one cue on..

I'm asking them to resend, but if it doesnt appear then I'm going to have to deal with it

whats going to be the least painful way? to be honest I hardly use playlists. occasionally have 2 versions of music is about the extent of it.

I guess I can drag them in an spot to original TC? 214 sound files = 1 guess thats 107 lav 107 boom..

Feel for you, that's a horrible session to be presented with!

thanks guys - I guess I will find out in the morning how much googling I need to do on field recorder workflow.

On the bright side I'm not too pressured on this one for once so its an opportunity to get up to date if they dont deliver.

You've probably edited this ADR by now, but if you get this again you can use the EdiLoad 'WAV File List' window to load all WAVs and export an AAF with them spotted to their timestamp. So you just ignore the session that was supplied and create your own. You can activate a free trial license within the app when first run.

Best regards,

Mark

Mark, that is a great suggestion. Wish I had thought of it when I had to deal with one of these.

FWIW I clearly specify no playlists when I book ADR now.

I just have a question. You said ADR.

Was this on set ADR with a location recorder or Pro Tools system?

I've gotten session from "obscure" studios around the US and have had weird playlist or only pref and alts in the session.

And Like you mentioned, give specs for what you need them to do. You'll get 16 bit, 44.1 and nothing labeled.

Quick sheet and instructions of setup for the session. Hopefully, you won't have to deal with this again.

Also, Check out https://www.soundsinsync.com

Mark, who is the developer, posted about EdiLoad.

I have EdiCue and EdiLoad and they have both made my life WAY, WAYYYY easier.

It is worth a look and he will give you an extension on the demo as well. I needed it to really get into EdiCue.

Can't work without either which is kind of scary. Don't go anywhere Mark!!!

They did resend the ADR - but wasnt that accurate , but at least I had the takes 'somewhere close-ish' on one time line.....
