Pro Tools Studio Annual Perpetual Upgrade & Support Plan

Hello everyone,

First post, but long time lurker over here.

In 2015 I bought the Avid Pro Tools | Mbox Pro Artist Bundle that contained a perpetual license of Pro Tools 11.
As I am a Avid Media Composer editor, I still didn't upgrade this version until today. The support plan for this extremely old version has expired on March 11, 2016.

As I said before I am not a heavy user of Pro Tools, but once in a while I need it in combination with my Avid Media Composer software.
Last week when I opened Pro Tools everything was extremely slow. After some research online I found out that the cause of this was laying with my two new 4K Dell UltraSharp U2720Q displays as Pro Tools 11 is not made for such high resolution screens.

As I am not interested in going through all the hassle of trial and error to maybe get this older version working with those new 4K screens, I wondered if I couldn't upgrade to a recent version.
To my surprise there still seems to be an upgrade with support plan from my current dinosaur version to the newer Pro Tools Studio version according to my Avid account.

It says the following:
Pro Tools Studio
€261.80 Pro Tools Studio Annual Perpetual Upgrade & Support Plan - GET CURRENT

So, am I correct that when I buy this upgrade, that I will get the latest version of Pro Tools Studio with 1 year support? And that when I not renew it after 1 year, Pro Tools Studio still will be working with the latest version that I can install within that year as it is a perpetual license?
Or am I seeing this all the wrong way?

For me the best plan is a perpetual license as I do not use Pro Tools on a daily base. I also need the Studio version because this bundle contains the video track option, as the Artist version doesn't have this capability.

Hi Ivan,

Yes, if you purchased that you will get a latest version together with a year of support & upgrade plan and you'll be using your old license as an upgrade path, in return you will receive an updated perpetual license that you may use. Since it's a perpetual license it will still work even after your plan expires.

Hi Charles,

I'm in a similar position to Ivan. If I buy this latest version/plan, will I have the option of downloading previous versions of Pro Tools Studio (prior to PT 2022.5) in case I have any compatibility issues?
