I just got my new pc last night (haven't set it up yet) and I have a question about the drive space digi 001 uses.

I have a 60 gig HD which I imagine will be partitioned. Is it enough to install digi 001 in one partition and store all the files there, or do I need to add an entireley seperate HD?

AFAIK I think partitioning your HD will not help PT LE performance. A second physical drive is really going to change things for the better. The only advantage to partition your drive is to keep your system partition seperate so whenever you need to forma your drive you can keep your storage seperate. It also helps defragmenting speed.

I would just get a second smaller drive for system. 40GB IBM 60 GXP 7200RPM is selling around $115.- at www.gogocity.com

yavuzj is right. The point of a second drive, in this case, is to have a seperate drive with it's own transfer path so that your audio and system info don't step on eachother and cause interrupt errors.

Many have said that it performs fine for them with one drive, but if you plan to use more like 24 tracks, you may want to get a second drive.

Also...
As most people that purchase a Digi001 dedicate computer I guess you already own an old computer. If you have 5GB and above HD simply take it as main OS disk.
OK it'll be a bit slower but I've tried new 7200RPM disks with new Celeron and got same results as with my segate 6.4Udma/33...
Cheaper solution and you won't need anything else.

Keep in mind:
Once in a while DEFRAG your HD (both of them).
