Hi,
Leaving expandibility aside is the 192k interface really worth the money or is the 96k good as we need? |

I tested some AD's side by side on 44.1 khz (192, 96, AD8000Se, Prism Dream ADA)
The 192 is at a complete different level than the 96. For short, I have not heard any AD sounding as great as the 192 for that little money. The 96 is ok, somehow on the level of an 888/24 or so. The 192 was on the level of the apogee, I actually liked it better then the AD8kse. I bought two 192 and could not be happier. When I was recording on Mix Systems I mostly rented Prism Converters for my records. Now I find my self only on a few projects still renting prisms, but for most stuff I am completly happy with the 192. daniel www.ideeundklang.com |

Do a search on "192" , "The Sound Of HD" and stuff like that. There have been A LOT of posts already about this, so that may be why you are not getting a lot of response.
I'd give you my opinion, but my HD system is not here yet, but, based on information here and from other people whose ears I respect, my decision is to go for the 192. It has better converters than the 96, and every post/opinion I've seen says the 192 is noticably better in a BIG way.

Just for the looks they are worth it... Kidding aside, got mine yesterday (three of them), they sound REALLY different. I have to A/B them with my Apogee PSX-100, but compared to the 888/24, it's night and day. Quite frankly at this point, I'm not sure I love them, they need some getting use to... Maybe I am so in tune and used to my 888/24, that might be it.
We'll see, I'm running more tests on my newly upgraded HD3 TMR. Cheers |
