Default Pro-Tools can\'t read the Motif ES midnam file

I did this about a year ago and it was fine... But now that my HD crashed I had to re-install everything...

So I got the Motif ES .midnam file and put it in the Yamaha folder... and its still not a device option... is this a 7,4 bug?

It worked for me, both with S90 and Motif. If itt doesn´t apear as as a device, jst choose "new" and define it and name it yourself you can rename it. But the presets and everything are there. It would work, I´m sure.

its not there to pick here's what I did

took the Yamaha MOTIF ES.midnam file and put it in the yamaha folder

Library > Audio > MIDI Patch Names > Digidesign > YAMAHA

Then in pro-tools

Setup > Midi > Midi Studio > Add Device > clicked new external device > Manufacturer > Yamaha > Model > and its not there!!!

Did I do something wrong???

You need to make an entry in Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/Digidesign Device List.middev

I thought that Cherry Picker took care of that, but maybe not - it's been awhile since I've needed to use it. (On second look, I see you didn't mention Cherry Picker - try that if you don't want to manually update the device file.)

Thank you that worked! I've never heard of Cherry Picker before until today! Before I didn't need it! I really appreciate your help! Thanks and God bless!
