Default Export Same Source Video

I mostly work to an DNxHD36 reference and keep a h.264 copy in the session
to make 'same as source' temp exports.
Since i upgraded to PT Ulti 2022.6 the 'same as source' exports won't work anymore.
Can you recommend a workaround, a video codec which allows PT to 'same as source' export and looks decent and is small in file size?

You cannot choose SAS for h.264 videos anymore in current versions of Pro Tools.
SAS does work for DNXHD and ProRes. You can have Pro Tools render out the video to a new codec but that could take a while depending on the length of the video.

Some popular tools for converting videos are Black Magic DaVinci and Shuttle Encoder. Both are relatively quick and easy to operate.

Shuttle Encoder had a nice feature that allows you to replace the audio track in the original video file with your new mixed track. Thus negating the need to export a QuickTime from Pro Tools altogether.

Yes. Shutter Encoder 'replace audio' is what i do now.
Since i often like to render just parts or a sequence from a film,
being able to use a h.264 directly from the PT timeline is very handy to me.

You can still do it. Just takes longer to render. I am not entirely sure if h.265 will bounce SAS. I suspect not.

Yes. Concerning 2021.6 it says:
"The Bounce Mix window allows you to export source video to DNxHD/HR and Apple ProRes MOV files, as well as MXF wrapped versions of these codecs to MOV files. Our goal is to extend same as source export support to other codecs in the future."
