DAD needs to get a an update to DADMAN up for Monterey.
It's been a while. I still have to force quit DADMAN software when I launch it the first time. Digital Audio Denmark emailed me back and said they are working on it, but seems a bit late. It's working here, but...

Agreed. It’s an embarrassment that Avid’s flagship interfaces have to use a utility that hasn’t been updated in a year and is not even approved with the same OS’s that Pro Tools is.

DAD has been teasing this “upcoming” release for months now.

Hi Greg,

We are working on a new release of DADman which will support Monterey.
Best regards,
Jan Lykke
NTP Technology

Not sure what that means, but heard from Jeff Komar at Avid and he emailed me and said this: "Yes, exactly. You are in uncharted waters. New release expected soon.
Best, Jeff"

Yeah, I used to never install it, but midway thru last year began giving it a try to see how the installer/updater had improved. It was actually making my life a little easier until 2022.4.

As they say, "2 steps forward..." ... unfortunately, that seems to be the case for all s/w, not just PT.

2022.5 seems a bit stranger as far as preferences, etc upon first install, compared to previous versions. I had to go through and toggle things in the GUI before it accurately realised which state it was in - particularly stuff associated with keyboard shortcuts. For whatever reason, 2022.5 thought it was in Focus Keyboard Mode despite the icon not indicating it.

I tend to mention this a lot, but is everyone who's having odd issues deleting their PT Prefs file after updating and starting over? This is important, especially when new components in Prefs are introduced. I can see PT getting confused by a file that has references to an older version and fewer references to the newer version.

I certainly agree that you shouldn't need to delete prefs because the app should handle it, but it has been the culprit for many issues we've experienced in the past. It's not typically a blatant issue, but something subtle. When all else couldn't fix the issue, deleting prefs and starting over did the trick.

For instance, I just saw some quirkiness with the GUI immediately after updating to 2022.5 then remembered that I hadn't deleted prefs. After doing so, the quirkiness evaporated. Immediately. Whether or not this should be the case, it just is, repeatedly, across many computers, in 5 or 6 different studios in my company.
