This is not happening on iphone and ipad with Safariand ios 14.

As we don’t and never will have our 7.1’s online i can’t say but they are Sqfari too so should not be an issue.

Anyone else with safari who get HTTPS like I do?

Here's an oddball one - normally I use Firefox on OSX 10.13.6 and seeing this I decided to give Safari a try. So I copy the URL from here (in Firefox) and paste it into Safari. Guess what? Safari does not show the https:// but just everything after that. If you go to 'edit bookmarks' in Safari you will see the http:// or https:// stuff. The upshot of this is unless you got to that 'edit bookmarks' page you will never know what's the prefix a url is using.

I've had the 'Don't have permission' error a few times this week, always with a post that has a quote or some copy/paste in it. Just now, I copied it and pasted the text in TextEdit, changed the typeface and fiddled around a bit - pasted it back in the DUC post dialog, and it worked. I'm suspecting there are 'invisible' characters or code or something that causes the errors, and my copy/paste thru Textedit removed the problem somehow. Might be a clue.

What browser are you using? I've had some issue with the iZotope site using the latest revision of Firefox. In an online chat with one their support people they let it be known they are aware of some site issues when using the latest Firefox and strict or custom tracking protection settings in FF.

I've been using Firefox latest or almost latest version forever, and across OS versions since Lion or longer. And the problem has come and gone across many FF/OS version combinations.

I'm hoping to use the method in my last post, to "distill" the text, in the future when I get the error.

This is totally random.

It may be server side problem or not, it may be browser problem or not. It may be memory overflow problem or not, it may be software/OS incompatibility or not.

I get around this sometimes by splitting up a reply into multiple smaller replies. And it's not clear that it takes a long reply to cause this, sometimes only a few short paragraphs but splitting that up lets them post. And I'm splitting up by copying and pasting parts when pasting the whole did not work. So I'm doubting there are any embedded characters causing this problem.

In the past I thought the issue was suspected by jeffro of being an interaction between the Akamai CDN and vBulletin forum software. I'm not sure if that was ever proven or disproven, I've not been around recently. Things like vBulletin being used behind a CDN requires careful setup of what the CDN is serving/how they are interacting. And possibly the use of third party extensions (that may be buggy?). I hope Avid has disproved this was an issue and/or engaged vBulletin or some consultants to look at this. I've administered one vBulletin forum and that was one too many.

Well yea, funny -hit. Sometimes when I face this problem and post using Tapatalk there is no problem. So I am not so convinced that it is a server side problem. I also cannot say it is not.
