BUG: Screen freezes when chasing TC

Hi,

we´re currently chasing PT9.0.2 via LTC (clocked to AES) from an ION soundmaster and very often PT freezes the graphics when you move/click or do a small edit while PT chases the LTC. Audio is still output to a certain point. The freeze sometimes takes 20-30 seconds till it comes back and continues normally.

Scroll mode was set to "page".

This never happened with 8.x or any version before that. It´s quite a pain since one of the great things about PT was that one could do small tweaks down the time-line while PT was chasing TC. Hardly any other DAW is able to do this. They usually drop out of chase when when doing the smallest edit.

Please fix, it´s quite annoying for the re-recording mixer because the only way to fix it is stop play-back and restart.

I'm having this issue too. Although it's not when chasing LTC.

Just while mixing and having quicktime video online. I get the pinwheel and everything freezes except the audio, 20 - 30 secs, then comes back. Happens anywhere from 2 - 10 times a day.

The really annoying part for me (other than constantly being slowed down) is that if you happen to be writing automation when this happens, it continues write the automation while protools is 'frozen'.

I also work in 'page' scrolling mode.

Happened with PT9.0, hoped 9.0.2 would fix, but it didn't.

No problems chasing TC with 9.0.2 here. Have you done troubleshooting on the rig? Maybe try replacing the video card.

The exact same rig ran fine under 7.x and 8.x
It´s a playback system in a mixing theatre and has 128 outputs via MADI (SSL) that feeds a Harrison MPC4D. The only thing that has changed is the PT-version. No additional video hardware is installed. The only real-time plugs used are a couple of EQ3 7-band.

The usual trouble shooting didn´t help.

But I´m not in charge of the hardware in this case. I just noticed that since 9.x PT has changed it´s behavior in the way described.

Drives used internal SATA and/or Glyph FW800 racks with keys.

A way that might trigger the issue is to create some fades or trims in the moment the master TC starts running and PT tries to lock. Often this leads to the lockups.
