Default Waves Gold Bundle

Just about to order the Waves Gold Bundle (native) and need some last minute encouragement (or alternate recommendation). I have a small project studio and am doing voice-overs, news, and other narration. I'd like to put together my own demo but don't have any extra outboard gear...just the Mbox (w/ a Neumann TLM 103). Is this bundle a good deal? I'm also being told that I need to purchase an iLock for an extra $40. Any advice?

I just recently down loaded a plug in suite from WaveArts. Someone on thsi forum recommended their reverb in another thread. I'm going to buy the package. I DL'd the demo which are fully functional for 30 days.

You might want to try these out before you lay down coin. They're kind of inexpensive as far as plug ins go. . .

I think the Gold Bundle is excessive for voiceovers and narration. (I have it, and I think it's basically excessive for anything.)

Chances are, if you figure out what you really need, you'll be able to get be for a lot less money. Maybe Waves Renaissance, or something from another vendor.

ok, but the great dynamics plugins like L1+ or C4 might get interesting too, so... the best idea would be to demo the Gold bundle before buying. Just download it from the Waves website and it will run for 10 days.

A slight word of warning: Waves Update Plan, short form WUP!
It sounds kind of "optional" first, but it's rather what other software companies would call a (nearly compulsory) software maintenance fee. It's around 8% of the bundle RRP per year, the first year is free with the purchase of the (base) license. If WUP is expired, as an example you're not entitled for the Waves PT7 updater. But once you get used to the WUP idea, you might realize that the deal is still quite acceptable.

Yes, you'll need an iLok, Waves are currently stopping the support of disk authorization.
