Default Waves Gold Bundle?

I am considering getting a Native Waves Gold Bundle. I found a student discount for $650! Does anyone know about these plug ins?

Do they work well with Protools? Are there mastering tools in it?

Are they worth the money?

Thanks in advance...

I've had Waves Gold for the past year and I reckon its a phenomenal package (especially for the money you're talking about). They're not perfect but then nothing ever is but they are a class act and will improve your results no end. Many further good testimonials on Waves can be found from other users on other parts of the DUC if you need more convincing.

Had this package for a couple of years, it is excellent but you will need a relatively powerful computer and be prepared to spend some time reading the manuals. Highly recommended.

Hi,

Yes, the price is hardly to be argued.
And if you have a fast CPU...

But I suggest reading about their end user policy you have to agree to at waves homepage.
It´s what made be step back from buying anything from Waves nearly for good.
Essentially it´s: if you buy Waves your´re practically stuck with them, so far.

But that´s maybe just me.

I also STRONGLY suggest to try the DEMOS FIRST! and don´t learn the hard way, esp. since V5.0 seem to have some issues, as mentioned in the TDM forum.

L1 and C4 are pretty good for mastering!

mindnoise - how is Waves' policy different from other plug vendors, aside from the crazy annual fees for the WUP plan?

(well, I just checked, and they also charge $150 if you buy a pre-registered version of Waves used, and it had better be a current version... or they'll get you for more)

HI tele player,

you just about said it. in the thread I linked there´s more of it, claiming Waves
actually take your right as a first buyer to sell your purchase any time later.
But that´s only an issue if you decide so.

Other companies like McDSP and other just do it for free what Waves charges for.

Consider a Musicians Bundle II for $150. you can´t sell it anymore because nobody will buy it
for it will be more expensive than buying new (resales price + reregistration fee)
Youre stuck with them practically for good, which may be OK with you or not.
Even DIGI does reregs for free now!

Even if Waves has great customer support they´ll charge too much for my tastes.

I don´t want to totally disagree about Waves, for my first statement was a bit harsh, I admit.

I just wanted to express to be a cautious. That´s it.

If you tested the DEMOS and decide they´ll be usefull to you for a long time, go ahead!
Sticking to one thing is not a bad thing.

best

I see. I agree, I don't like their policy. They've angered quite a few people with the pricing on the WUP, also.

But they're in a difficult position. They want to continue development, and for that, they must be paid. Most of us only want to pay them ONCE. It's unrealistic for their continued existence to depend on a constantly expanding base of new customers.

Another irksome thing is that Waves expliicitly states that they don't want their licenses on an iLok with other products' licenses. I have an iLok for my Izotope plugins, Waves leads me to believe I'd need another for my Waves package, so I'm still using disk auth. But it would be nice to install my Waves Gold on my Mac as well as the PC where it's currently installed. Grrr.

Just interested...where did you find that student discount? Also, was that off the Native version? If it was, that would make it about half price (a very good deal indeed!)
