Default Trying to open a older LE session on HD

Trying to open a session made on LE6.4 on a 7.3.1HD rig. It gives the usual message about the I/O settings and a plugin used in the 6.4 LE session that isnt on the HD machine. Right after that, HD shuts down with the "ProTools shut down unexpectedly" OS dialog.

Any thoughts? Possibly corrupted session?

Possibly create a new session and import the data? Its sounds like something is possibly corrupt.

yeah, that was the only way to salvage the older session it seems.

oddly enough it opened on my home LE rig.... even saving that as a new session and trying to open it up on the big desk was a no go.

thx

This could work, but what you are describing is called a kernal panic with the computer. When it gives you that screen, something has gotten in the way of the computer, not allowing it to run at all. I would check for a corrupted session, open a new session and import session. If necessary, import one or two tracks at a time and maybe you'll find your culprit. Also, trashing preferences is not ever a bad idea.

Did you try adding a ".pts" to the end of the filename (not .ptf)? I think that worked for me once.

If you read his post you'll see that Pro Tools shuts down, not the computer. That's not a kernal panic.
