Unhappy Where is 96000.0 Hz sampling rate?

Hi!

I'm using PT M-Powered with M-Audio MobilePre USB and want to work with a 24/96 session but PT is only showing me up to a 48000.0 Hz Sampling Rate.

Can anyone tell me why this is and what I need to do to fix it?

Thanks!

your device supports 48kHz/16bit max.

But why would that keep me from importing sound files at a different rate?

I just want to edit an existing session!

please define what you want to do:
are you wanting to open an existing session and edit? (won't work w/o down sampling the files)
or do you want to import some 96k files into a 44.1 or 48 session to play with? (this should work)

Not with your current interface. The interface contains the digital/analog convertors which you need to deal with digital audio. Pro Tools won't open a file your interface doesn't support. There may be other tools that will open the audio files and let you convert them manually, I don't know about that, but your system won't play let alone edit a file your audio interface won't support. You might consider picking up something like the fast track pro, which supports 24/96.

The only thing you can do is to create a new session with your max resolution 48/16 and to import session data. But keep in mind that your audiofiles will be converted to the resolution of your current session...

Grab an M-Audio Transit for a few bucks, you can open the session at that sample rate and bit length, on this interface, with a stereo output.
