Default Pro Tools 10 on Mac OSX (Static "skip" or scratch upon bounce)

While in session, the music plays out fine and during the bouncing operation.

Afterwards opening up the bounced file in ITunes, their is this "skip" or "scratch" like static sound that occurs throughout the song play from beginning to end.

And its happened all of sudden.

Any help?

Have you tried recording in real time to a new track and not using bounce? If so does that give you the same problems? Might want to try updating to a later version of PT10. What exact version of ML do you have?

I've never tried real time to a new track. How would I go about doing that?

Also, the only reason I did not update to a newer version of OS is because I've heard horror stories with Maveric and Yosemite, although that was when they first appeared I have since checked in on the updates that I refrained from updating.

Recording real time to a new track is simply that - you buss all your tracks and any aux's and sends from those tracks to a single stereo audio track and record to that track.

I didn't say to update to a new version of OSX. I asked you what version of Mountain Lion do you have? You only state OSX Mountain Lion 10.8 but that is not the full version number. The latest ML version is OSX 10.8.5. PT10 runs just fine on that OSX version. You might also want to try a later version of PT10 the latest of which is PT10.3.10.

No need to go to Mavericks (which PT10 works just fine as it's only the uninstaller that doesn't work) or Yosemite where PT won't install without a hack of the installer and even then there are issues.

Ok roger that. I will try a real time recorder. I'll have to get familiar with tutorial as I've never attempted doing that.

Would I be able to file it down into an mp3? For upload purposes?

And I will message here as soon as I can with the full version of my OSX. I am currently away from my mac computer.

There's a lot to learn about PT. I'd like to suggest maybe you pick up a book or two on it as well as checking out Groove 3 for their video tutorials. They are a pay-for but worth it. They have a specific tutorial for PT10 as well as other versions of PT. A good deal with Groove 3 is to get in on their yearly access fee where you can watch any video you want on any product all for one yearly payment.

Can't answer as to the mp3 deal as I never use them.

Roger that, I will look into that.

I have some extensive video tutorials that I've skimmed through for specific knowledge needed on bussing, etc.

I will dive in more onto the schematics of the programming. I'm still only about 4-5 yrs into Pro Tools, still learning as I go.

With that said. What do you use to bounce out to? As far as file format? Just .wav?

Have you not uploaded music online? Usually it requires an mp3 between 192kps to 320kps

I don't do music for posting online. My clients require cd's. My typical PT session is 24 bit, 44.1 KHz sample rate which gets dithered down to 16/44.1 before burning to cd.

Where I had an advantage when I got into PT full time was at that point I had also been recording using Cakewalk Sonar 8 Producer. It was a matter of translating that knowledge over. Same thing with me getting into Digital Performer - translate my knowledge over and learn that system as well.

With a proper setup that should work. In addition to what I show in my sig file I also have separate external drives for PT to record to and one for my samples. All the system drive has (which is a 7200 rpm spinner) is PT itself along with the plugins themselves. PT10.3.10 runs fine in OSX 10.8.5 so you may want to try updating to that PT10 version.

What I would try, amongst the other things I've mentioned, is to do the real time record in PT and use iTunes to do the mp3 conversion (I think it can do that but not sure).

Roger that, thank you.

I did a fresh install last night. Now I am trying to figure out the mbox / pro tools merge.
