Pro Tools LE 5.2.1 keeps freezing

Help this Pro Tools novice please! I use a Mac G3 5oo mhz/384 Mb RAM running OS 9.2.2 with Pro-Tools LE 5.2.1/MBox and whenever I'm recording, manipulating or playing back for 10 minutes or so, my system freezes up. My memory allotment is fine, I've turned off all uneccessary extensions...I'm at a loss! I do use an after market USB port (mine only has SCSI ports) but I go directly into the port (not the hub) with the MBox. I figure if the port is a problem, it wouldn't work at all. I've tried emailing DigiDesign (with no response) and called tech support but couldn't get through. Can someone help, please?
