When I burn a CD of bounced files with Windows Media Player, most of the tracks have a small "pop" at the end of them. I know that the "pop" is not there after I bounce it because when I bring the track back into protools it is not there. Also, it doesn't rear it's ugly head when I play it through WMP either. It is only there after I burn the CD and play it somewhere else. Has ayone experienced this or know how to get rid of it.
I am using Protools LE for Windows v. 6.1 with MBox and I have WMP 8. Thanks for any help and happy recording!!! |

I have noticed this too when bouncing the mix tracks down. But bouncing down the mix tracks is the only time I notice it.
I usually import my mix back into a new session for mastering and I take the time to clean up the ends, fade out, etc, so when I re-bounce the "master" down to 16 bit to burn to cd, the pop is no longer there. Maybe during my clean-up process during mastering I am trimming the pop away. I am not sure, but it works for me.

This is a problem that many of us have ran into. If you do a search on the DUC, you will find several threads on it. I tried pulling the file into Pro Tools and trimming, but I still get a pop sometimes. So what I have been doing is pulling the file(s) into CD Architect, trimming the ends and burning from there. Don't know if you have a similar option.
The crazy thing is it doesn't happen all the time!

I had the same problem on two different systems.
Then I tried nero and the click is gone... Try burning a cd using a different program.

ScottFclef,
If the noise is not happening when you bounce to disk, but is only happening when you burn the file to CD as CD Audio, then yes, you should try a different program to make your audio CD's. MusicMAtch Jukebox is good as is Nero. Silence/graveleye, I don't think the original poster's problem was noise after just bouncing to disk. However, end of track white noise is an issue that happens occasionally with PT LE and other DAWS. Here are the three things that have eliminatd the problem for me. They must all be done: DAE buffer size at 4 or 2, best is 2 Hardware buffer at 512 or 1024 Put 1 second of silence at the beginning and 4 to 6 seconds of silence at the end of your audio - just highlight an extra second at the head and 4 to 6 extra seconds at the tail - before you bounce. Try these three things together and you should be all right. If the extra silence is a problem for you when it comes to burning the track(s) to an audio CD, do the bounce, then set up a new session at the bit and sample rate of the mixed down track. Import the track to the new session, trim as desired and then export the file rather than bouncing it out. Many on the DUC use a separate program like Sound Forge or WaveLab to trim/set up their tracks to burn to CD. You could go that route after BTD if you wanted to. An alternative to bouncing out and using a separate session is, if you have the two tracks available, mixing down to a stereo track by bussing, trimming to time and then exporting the resultant stereo track. This will work fine if you don't need to apply dither. Merry Christmas,
