Unhappy digi002 consol and protools 8 problem

Hi!

I have a big problem:

When i turn on my digi002 and open protools everything is fine. the digi002 consol gets into "protools-mode".
But when i open a old session the faders are going up but then it starts validating and goes back to standby-mode. I recorded two days ago but cant open the session.
I use a macbook pro 2.4 dual with 4 g ram

/Erik

Are you turning the 002 on before starting the computer? Are you familiar with the 002 power harness issue? Will the 002 go into standalone mode and function?

Hi.
thanks for the answer!
the thing is that i can open a new session and add one track at the time with no problem, but when i try to add like three or four tracks the digi002 starts validating and puts itself to standbymode. but the power is still on. if i add one track at the time theres no problem to record on them, but if i close the session i cant open it again.
when i try to open an "old" session, the faders go up to the point where i left it in the mix but then it goes down directly and the digi002 puts itself to standbymode and if i touch protools the system "hangs".........
please someone?

Hi Albee is right. Those exact symptoms are indicative of a power harness getting ready to need cleaning.

Ive exp those sympt before exactly. Pulled the harness and did the perscribed cleaning and then everything is right with the world.

On a side note depending on the climatic region you live in will dictate how often you clean the harness.

When i lived in the s.w. US I had to do the harness shuffle about once a year. Now i live in the deep s.e. US and it is always humid. My power harness shuffle is required about once every 6 or 8 months. Ive tried dry with or without some sort of contact treatment. I have found its best to clean and dry contact and reconnect. It will need cleaning more often if you leave any residue from any contact cleaner on the pins.

Hope it works out for you

Also i forgot to mention,....

Put a silicate pack, like the ones the you keep in a rifle case or that comes in shipping containers for electronics. It absorbs humidity.

When ever i service my equipment, I stick one to the inside of the cover plate with two sided tape (the thick foam kind), then put the cover back on.

Just put it on the side away from the power supply and it will help to increase the mileage between power harness service.

See Ya

So what happened? Have you been able to clean and solve your problem?
I am asking because I've just received a digi 002 that a bought in ebay and I am experiencing exactly what you are describing.
The console is being recognized with no problems, actually works ok in standalone mode. Even appears to work fine with PT8 for the first minute or two and then bang! goes to standby mode in the middle of the PT session, which of course ends up crashing PT...
Anyway, if you see this message please let me know if the harness cleaning worked for you. Otherwise, I am returning this thing...
