With dedicated SSD´s for both Catalina and Mavericks, to boot up the other system is only a thing from a minute to switch between tracking and mixing. For fast recordings during the mix process I have connect Microphon Cables to the RME. Externeal Gear, f.e. synths I record via the RME, too.
But the zero-latency tracking under PT10 in Mavericks is for me still the perfect way to do long recording sessions or to record a complete band.
Thank you, that info finally settles the score :)

Now that the above is established, I would assume that not all versions of PT Ultimate would install in High Sierra ?
I'm looking into buying a perpetual Ultimate license, but assume the installer I'll get delivered will be too new to install on High Sierra.
Also knowing Avid, I very much doubt I can get older installers from them...

Any suggestions here ?

Perpetual license holders can use any version since PT12.6 which is supported on Sierra. Highest version supported on High Sierra would be PT2020.12

Avid Download Center is your friend here, not only Avid Account that has the latest.

That made my day, after several of being lost THANK YOU !

I'll allow myself to keep asking til you're bored answering:)

Are there later "unsupported" Ultimate versions that can be installed - and are worth doing so - in High Sierra ?

I was particularly interested in the delay compensation of side chain paths which I believe only got introduced not that long ago...

You can always try. Unsupported does not mean not working. It is just unsupported, Avid first asks you to upgrade your OS.

will try that one indeed !

last question of the day, just in case, although it further out of the topic as it goes

Couldn't find the info on the crossgrade plans

Would you know if surrendering a PT11 license that was bundled with a PT10HD one would mean surrendering both 11 AND 10 ?

Any way to know wether my 10 and 11 where actually a bundle ?
They do show as 2 separate tabs in the "My products" section.
Also 10 and 11 licenses reside on 2 different iLoks but I remember getting them at same time...

I don't really know about Avid policies but I would think if you have a license bundle, the new one would have the same licenses added with new one(s).

What I would suggest is wait a little and see if Avid comes up with suitable promotion for the end of the year. December seems to be a bad idea to buy anything in normal price.

With that said Avid front page has "save UP TO 50% off" deal for new subscribers. That will however not help you, so wait for the next deal.

Yes, waiting for the next promotions seems very wise advice thanks !

I see there is a 30 Ultimate trial offer, hopefully that would authorise any ultimate version, so I can at least make sure what which work in High Sierra

@tonwurm @JFreak

Back with a few more questions :)
I've created a High Sierra boot on my MacPro 5.1 and I can now boot either in 10.9.5 to open old PTHD10 TDM session, and in 10.13.6 for a not yet installed newer version of PT
For the record, PT 11 does launch seemingly OK on High Sierra, although I didn't fiddle much to check stability - It's "unsupported" by AVID in any case

I was wondering if there was a core audio driver that would let me connect via the old accel card to the blue 192 Audio interface, not for PT but for other DAWs such as Ableton.
In 10.9.5, although PT11 doesn't "see" the 192 (as established in several threads) Ableton Live 9 64bit DOES connect seamlessly to it via Core Audio.
I've read somewhere that old PT9 drivers were working at least in Mac OS 10.11 El Capitan.

Thank you
