Default apogee duet 2

Anyone tried this?

How are the preamps? I've got a dan alexander already ( Neve ).

Would it be worth it to get the apogee just for the converters? I"m using original mbox now, bypassing the preamps and using the Dan Alexander. Just using the mbox for conversion, and also headphone monitoring.

Brings me to another question.
I like the immediate, no latency monitoring of the mbox. With the apogee, apparently there would be latency ( Like most set ups ). Does PT LE compensate for that, and how does it work?

Thanks!

The Duet 2 is not actually out yet, so there's no one who will be able to tell you how it sounds, unless maybe they were a beta tester. According to Apogee, the conversion is supposed to be a significant step up from the Duet 1 (which was already pretty good).

Also, though it's usb, it is apparently a new design that allows lower latency than what was achieved on the Duet 1 with firewire.

For more info, you might check out this thread on Gearslutz. Someone from Apogee answered some questions on there:
