How do I turn off the new right-click mouse shortcuts in PT 8
Any thoughts? This new feature is interfering with the custom mouse settings I have been using for over 7 years. Please tell me this is can be defeated. Can't find a preference anywhere.
It's been a pretty painful week going to Snow Leopard and Pt 8 at the same time. Seems mouseworks does not really work in Snow leopard. Very buggy. And this feature is killing me on my previously programmed right click. I depend on the five button mouse so much, if I can't get it the way I want, I will probably go back to Leopard and 7.4.2. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thx.

Re: How do I turn off the new right-click mouse shortcuts in PT 8
Hey Eric, I've got a few suggestions for ya.
Try using an app like Steermouse or USB Overdrive. I use Steermouse with my Logitech MX Revolution mouse but I might suggest USB overdrive with your trackball. Both work on Snow Leopard Another suggestion would be to hold off a bit on converting to Snow Leopard. A lot of people (myself included with the jerky quicktime playback) are having show stopping issues with PT8.0.3. I hope that helps ya! -Justin

Re: How do I turn off the new right-click mouse shortcuts in PT 8
Thanks for the replies, guys. Yeah, I've been following the threads about jerky playback in PT 8.x.x. I had been holding off on upgrading because of it.
However, I just installed a new mix room and the new computer came with Snow Leopard installed and the new HD3 came with a PT 8 authorization. So I thought I would give it a go before upgrading my dubstage and ADR room. I'm glad I did, just so I know it's not ready for a facility wide update. Justin, I tried steermouse, but it does not do "chording" which is a dealbreaker. I'm going to try usb overdrive today. Kensington Support emailed me a link to a version of Mouseworks that works in 32bit mode. But it is real buggy. Click response is weird and the cursor/pointer jumps around the screen at random moments. I had a region selected with the grabber and was control sliding it down a track and the cursor jumped to another track further down the timeline and dropped the region on top of another. Very dangerous behavior. I have not had jerky playback yet, but I have only used one dv file to test. But truthfully, if I can't get that contextual menu disabled (when you right click on a track) then none of this matters, because that alone will drive me crazy. Maybe it is a problem with the Mouseworks software not over riding the default PT behavior. I will find out later. But I think a downgrade to Leopard and PT 7.4.2 is in my future. What a shame.

That's a shame the driver doesn't work after all these months beyond Snow Leopard's release. The only other suggestion I have is to try and find a creative workaround using Quickeys, which should likely have the ability to replicate your trackball's "chords" in some other fashion. It could be a good quick fix if you're short on time with downgrading.

It does not do chording however. But, my preferred setting is to have the two side buttons, when chorded, bring up the trimmer tool. Since each side button is programmed for the selector and grabber, if I chord the two, PT selects the multi tool (default behavior is two Fx keys pressed together bring that up). After some time, this actually works well for me. I have access to the trimmer. So overall, I will not be slowed down hunting for the correct F key. That is all that matters. Oh, and the cursor going where it is supposed to. Thanks again, Justin for the USB overdrive suggestion. I think Steermouse may also work for me now that I have discovered the multi-tool functionality. I still can't believe Kensington has not developed a reliable Snow Leopard version of their software. What are they thinking? Abandon the Mac platform now that it has it's highest market share that it has ever had?
