Mytek 192 with Pro Tools 9 via Firewire - not showing up
Hello all,
I'm just trying to get my lovely Mytek 192 up and running with Pro Tools 9. Since PT9 came out I've been using it with my Apogee Rosetta 800 via Firewire with no problems, and I'd like to run the Mytek at the same time. To cut a long story short Pro Tools isn't "seeing" the Mytek at all. I've tried fault-finding all the way down my chain, including reseating the firewire card in the Mytek, up to date drivers and firmware from Mytek, combo update Mac OS 10.6.7 (from 10.6.6) and PT to 9.0.2 from 9.0.1 (earlier OSs and PT versions have been running very stably for months). My Audio Midi setup is able to see the Mytek, I can use it to play audio from the system (iTunes, etc) and it works no problems with Ableton Live via Core Audio - so I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that there is a problem with Pro Tools recognising the Mytek. When I open the Hardware Setup window in Pro Tools it does not show the Mytek as available - I've taken everything else off my computer (External drives, Apogee Rosetta) and all the hardware setup is seeing is the Built-In Line Input. Simultaneously the Mytek is visible in the AudioMidi application, and everywhere else in my system. I've also tried switching the firewire cables - using the one that worked with the Apogee for the Mytek and vice versa, no change... Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance, D _____________________ PT 9.0.2 Mac OS 10.6.7 Mac Pro 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon 8GB Ram Mytek 8 x 192 with Firewire and ProTools option cards Apogee Rosetta 800 with Firewire option card |

Re: Mytek 192 with Pro Tools 9 via Firewire - not showing up
did you install the protools 9 drivers
it's a separate installer and not included with the full installer

Wow - thanks for the quick reply!
No I haven't installed them - I grabbed everything I could find off the Mytek site - do you have a link? D |

Re: Mytek 192 with Pro Tools 9 via Firewire - not showing up
I've been googling around like a madman trying to figure this one out - I found all the pages here at Avid that say for digidesign/avid hardware you need to install the drivers seperately from PT - but I haven't found anything else about the Mytek 8x192 - any leads you could help with?

if your using FireWire and it shows up in the AMS setup window is it listed under the aggregate devices? or separate line? did you check the playback engines pull down menu and see the aggregate devices?

Hello again!
Yes it's listed in the AMS setup and I can add it as part of the aggregate as well as showing up separately, though I haven't checked the playback engine - thanks for pointing that out. I'm back in the studio tomorrow and will check it out, D |

Hello again,
Yes you're bang on smack dab correct - it's a beginner's error at my end, failing to switch the playback engine! Mytek is singing and dancing happily now - time to do a line up I think! Thanks again for your help, D |
