Default HELP with my DSP, there is never enough!

I have 50 audio tracks, about 10 McDsp EQ plugs, 4 Aux Tracks. System set to 64 voices (2 DSP). Why cant I put in a Waves super tap Delay on a new aux, without running out of DSP?
Can anyone help me calibrate my system to run better? A HD2 system should be way more powerful then this!

Mac G5 - 2.5 gigs of Ram
Pro Tools HD 7.2 plus 1 process card.

Hi,
Well I am not sure if this will help but, can you change your voices to one dsp chip instead of two you could free up a chip.

Is there any way that you can sub some of your tracks to share the McDSP plugs? For example, if you have 5 guitar tracks, send the outputs to an aux input, etc.

Try making some of your McDSP plugs inactive (not bypass), then try putting the waves plugs on. Now go back and make the McDSP plugs active again. Sometimes you have to "do a little dance" with the plugs in order to get them to work. Meaning that you have to put on certain plugs before others in order to get the most DSP out of your system.

Look at your system usage and see which card the McDSP and waves plugs are going on. Some plugs go on either core or accel cards, some accel only. Also, try using some RTAS plugs. I can't remember for sure, but I think RTAS plugs have to go on before TDM plugs.

Also, do your mixes at 44.1 for the most DSP.

Hope this helps.

Are you trying to use the "Super Tap 6-Taps 6 sec" or "Super Tap 2-Taps 6 sec" ?
Every time I try to instanciate these I get the "not enough dsp" message (even in an empty session with no other plug-ins!).
I have an HD2 system and these have never worked for me.
Usually use the ""Super Tap 6-Taps Mod" instead or something not Waves.

This issue occurs for me with waves plugs as well. Open your system usage window and confirm that you really are running out of DSP. Also of course be sure you have all the latest and greatest all compatible software.

If so, then maybe try the aforementioned suggestion, or just avoid this plug and go at it a different way.

If you haven't installed all the latest Waves PT7 updates etc, you will get those error messages even though you have plenty of DSP left. Also you could try using RTAS versions of Waves and let the computer do some work if that's applicable to your workflow...

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
The problem is that "Super Tap" "C4" and "Lin EQ" do not work on Process cards. Way to go waves, and thanks for the 35 min. hold time to tell me that!!

Can you run them as RTAS instead? I usually do that when I run out of DSP, using RTAS plugins that don't have big delays, i.e. L1, C1, etc. This saves the HD DSP for plugins that really need delay compensation.

Just a thought!
