MIDI signal flow question
I'm using M-Audio Keystation 88es (which is a soundless controller) through USB, and my ProTools system is running off of MBox.
The MIDI track I want the midi data to be on has an input of "USBKeystation 99es-1" and an output of "Kontakt2 1-1" I have an stereo instrument track with Kontakt2 as an insert. The "instrument" section of the instrument track is currently set to "All" input "none" output. The I/O section of the instrument channel strip is set to "no input" input and "A 1-2" output When I hit the keyboard I see the incoming midi signal on... audio tracks (no input / output A 1-2) an unused instrument (no input / output A 1-2) the left LCD of the Kontakt channel strip. (no input / output A 1-2) The weird thing is, if I insert a long delay plugin to an audio track, the piano output can now be heard, but delayed at least a second. The delayed signal can be seen in the audio track, and the right LCD of the Kontakt channel strip. Please tell me the correct way to setup signal flow from MIDI controller to MIDI track to sample plugin to output. Thanks, Joe |

Re: MIDI signal flow question
Following up: I was able to insert Reason to an instrument channel as a "multi-mono plug in" (it opens in rewire) and it works fine, but, when I create a new instrument and select another insert, and record enable it, my keyboard keeps triggering the reason instrument.

Re: MIDI signal flow question
Dot. Talked to a friend and found the answer. I was trying to use Inst track like an Aux track. Too much Logic on the brain, where Auxes are Instruments are Busses.

Re: MIDI signal flow question
An instrument track is a MIDI track and an aux combined, so a single instrument track is easier to handle than an aux and a MIDI track. Each to his own, I guess.

Re: MIDI signal flow question
If you listen to this crazy Norweigan, you'll be in trouble but he's got a point for a really, really, really old guy....do you have instrument tracks? You can set your output to 1-2 and you should hear everything. Love you Stigman!
