Default Import Audio - No preview :((

Hi all,

When I import audio during a session, no matter whether the audio need to be converted or not, when I click on the play icon to preview what audio I am going to import, I get a graphical monitor level in the import audio box, however, I never hear any audio.

Has anyone experienced this and if so, did you fix it?

It's a PITA when you have to import the audio, place in in a track only to find that it's not what you wanted - especially when working off sample CDs.

Cheers,

Simon.

The problem could be trying to do it off of the CD directly. Also, are the sample CD's comprised of actual WAV files, or are they standard CD audio? If it's the latter, they'll need to be converted to WAV files first before they can be imported into PT.

It's probably playing out the "other" sound device in your computer.

As for importing the audio files, I no longer use the 'import audio to track' function from the file menu. Instead, I import audio from the regions list menu, so it's in the session but not automatically placed on a track. From there, you can preview it before dragging it into a track. Hold the Alt button and highlight the file.

Thanks guys,

I encounter this problem from audio files both from hard disk and CD-Rom. I will try these suggestions.

Zboy - All files in question are WAVs.

Mr7, as far as setting the sound to an other device - I only have one device installed - the digi001.

PK - thanks 4 the reply man. I can't quite distinguish between region list and audio list etc. without sitting in front of PT, so I'll try this l8r.

Would you believe that Saturday will be the next bloody opportunity I'll have to get at my studio. Bloody work.
