Default MacBook Air (Early 2014) 11" - i5 1,4 GHz/4 gb/128 Gb SSD - Will it work with PT12HD

I want to buy Macbook Air/Early 2014/11"/i5 1,4 GHz/4 gb/128 Gb SSD mainly for internet and text, but it would be nice to have it for some basic PT work (recording or editing several tracks). This model is NOT supported by AVID I just want to know if anyone got it to work with PT 12 (or maybe 10) and if there are some problems what they are. I have a working Mac Pro with PTHD and I know Mac Book Pro would be the best solution, i just want to know for this particular Air model if somebody has any experience or advice.

Tnx,

Martin.

System requirements say minimum 8GB ram. What it means is you will get PT up and running with 4GB but you cannot expect top performance. If you only need light use, it might be just alright. And by light use I mean few virtual instruments, because those eat the memory for breakfast.

As mentioned by JFreak already 4GB are actually not enough for a useable Pro Tools 12 performance.
If you are recording audio the 128GB Flash drive may become too small soon too as you might not fill
up your Flash more than 85-90% of it´s available storage space.
If you are recording Midi you will need a small yet decent interface as well as for latency but you probably
know that anyway.

I had such a Macbook Air (quite similar specs to yours) and used it for Midi programming and editing in
Logic (transfered the Midifiles to Pro Tools later) which did work out but as we all know Pro Tools is a lot
more demanding than even Logic.
Btw I additionally used a 128GB SDHC card for all my non-musical data to save storage space on my
internal 128GB Flash drive. This helped a lot to get on with the small amount of 128GB on the Apple Flash.
