Yeah, that's a good idea Barnabas, just a bit anxious, scsi works (with $$$ Granite Cables) never used firewire- Sorry, that's a lie - a friend brought his rubber LaCie PocketDrive HD & that went flawlessly It's gonna be firewire i guess Thanks guys |

Re: Which is a good Mac cdrw burner ?
My CDR on my B/W G3 went bad too, so I just got the Glyph WildFire CDR that connects via Firewire. It's not working for me yet, but Glyph and I are ironing out the bugs. It works great on my G4, but my PT is on the G3. It uses a Plextor drive.
I went with the Firewire drive to keep the SCSI bus short. I think if I had OS 9 on the G3 instead of 8.6 it might work already.

Re: Which is a good Mac cdrw burner ?
If it's compatable, try the Glyph firewire drive called "Wildfire" It's a plextor drive in a Glyph box, but Glyph has great tech support and customer service. Mine's an 8X, but maybe they're making them faster now. 8X has been good enough for me though.

Re: Which is a good Mac cdrw burner ?
My Glyph Wildfire is a 16x10x40 CDRW. It has the Plextor PX-W1610tA drive. As I said, it works great on my G4, but not on the B/W G3 running OS 8.6. I did have to upgrade the firewire extensions, but it still doesn't work. Glyph says it will work on any G3 or G4. Glyph and I are exchanging e-mails trying to get it to work.
I've never used the firewire ports on the G3. Is there some way to test them?
