Import Audio causes PT 10 to freeze

Hi...have noticed in the past few months that when I import audio (WAV or even MP3) into a new PT session, the PC freezes and I get the "Not Responding" at the top of the page in the Windows bar. I trash prefs and reboot and the same problem occurs 3-4 times in a row and then it will work for one or two audio files and then the same problem. This is really annoying !. PT 10.2 installed with Windows 7 Professional and an 003r. Otherwise its been a rock solid system although very occasionally I get a freeze when bouncing to an MP3.

Wondering if this is Plug-in related but even if I import audio to a blank new session, the freeze on import happens...

I am always needing to import tracks from a hard drive when people bring stuff for me to mix so this is a pretty big headache.

All drivers, etc are up to date and only latest versions of plugins are loaded.

Importing from where? If its from a CD or DVD, try copying the files to your recording drive(outside of PT) first.

Importing MP3 or WAV files from Hard Disk...not from CD

Maybe you're linking instead of Copying? Just a thought.

Have you resolved the issue with PT10 freezing when importing audio on a PC?
I'm currently struggling with this issue. It also seems to freeze when auditioning audio in the "workspace" window.
