Default CPU overload error occured...

Ok so I am doing playback on protools v8 and then a pop up message comes up that reads:

"A CPU overload error occurred. If this happens often, try increasing the H/W buffer size in the playback engine dialog, or removing some plug-ins."

...now I am at 128 sample rate and well, its a pain having to lower here when monitoring....any ideas???

Details about your system might help us have some suggestions.

Otherwise, we're flying blind here, and can only recommend that you check to make sure that your hardware is compatible and that your system meets the minimum requirements for Pro Tools use, including but not limited to, using a separate physical hard drive for audio sessions.

True, sorry.

I have a Mac Book Pro 17", Leopard OS X Version 10.5.6, 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB of Memory DDR3.

It must be definitely compatible with pro-tools I am sure.

Well first, you're in the wrong section. This is the area for Windows.

Next, that's still not enough information, as you haven't posted any information about your hard drives, which Digidesign hardware you are using, what exactly you are playing back, etc etc etc.

While that may be partially correct, unless you are using a Digidesign qualified external drive for your audio sessions, then you are not running it to the requirements, and that is why you are experiencing errors.

There are also several setup/configuration steps over in the mac forum in the General Troubleshooting post that you are going to want to pay close attention to.

Both of you need to go post in the Mac section of the DUC. That's where you will get the best answers
