Default Pro Tools 10 constantly crashing

I am in desperate need of help.

My Pro Tools system is crashing constantly. Once I get it working (after about an hour) it's fine until I come to use it again.

There isn't an error message it just shuts down and a 'Pro Tools has closed unexpectedly' box appears with loads of code. After this has happened and I try to reopen Pro Tools it refuses to locate my 002 at all. It's then a case of restarting until it changes it's mind and stops crashing.

I have upgraded from 10 through to 10.3 and the same issue is occurring. I have have even done 3 full reinstalls of Pro Tools but to no avail.

This has been going on too long now. I'm losing the plot.

I'm on 73 crashes in 3 days now.

If it can't be fixed I'll be moving to Logic and selling this set up.

Anyone out there who might have a clue?

Anyone got any ideas? I've just updated plugins and checked all compatibility and still no change.

Hi Scott

Sorry for the problems you have

Have your setup ever worked fine?
If so:
  • What has changed in your environment (software or hardware updates, etc.)?
  • Have you checked your Mac's hardware by starting your Mac and press the letter D? Remember to disconnect everything possible before you run this check.

Personaly I don't think the problem is Pro Tools

Even if you updated your plugins, I would move everything into the unused plugin folder, and try again.

Then you know for sure that it is not a incompatible plugin.

Otherwise I would reinstall the 002r driver.

Scott,

Along with the suggestions about checking for dodgy plugins and checking you have the most up to date drivers for the 002, check that your recording drive(s) are permissions agnostic. This tip cured the incessant crashing on my PT system recently.
