Default 1814 - Lowest buffer is 128?

Ok, I just set up an M-Powered rig for a client this weekend using the FW1814 (which I have been using w/Logic Pro 7 with great results on my home rig - I use an Mbox and PTLE though so I had no previous PTMP experience). However, in Logic 7, I can select a buffer of 64, whereas in PTMP the lowest possible setting is only 128 - why is this? Also, the fact that there is no low-latency monitoring option in PTMP makes this a really big PITA, because now I have to have my client buy more gear (mixer) in order to monitor w/o latency - is this another feature that has been removed from LE for PTMP?

Thankfully the little Firewire control panel for the 1814 allows for some pretty neat routing, so I was able to set her up in a jerry-rigged sorta way to get around this problem until we get a mixer, but I'd love to know why these 2 issues exist, and why third party software can get a lower buffer size than the ProTools software the hardware was meant to work on.

Well pt le never had a lower buffer setting than that anyway at least until the 002 ' and i just got rid of mine for a ozonic wich is a good unit for the $ also the 002 wouldn't work worth s**t on logic or dp and its great i can go back to using these apps without those stupid core audio errors all the time. But i agree its a drag we can't get a 64 buffer setting but still 128 i quite usable (i find anyway) the 001 was a great unit and didn;t go lower than that
so i still haven't bought PTMP althought i tried the demo and i worked fine except the CPU load is a little heavier but i am in NO RUSH to go buy PTMP let digi workout the bugs first ' and until then i'll enjoy rediscovering logic and dp.

ps what a pain importing all my clients files over thought.

cheers

No, but it did have "Low Latency Monitoring" mode, which would disable your plug-ins but would allow for near-zero latency monitoring through the software. The FW1848/PTMP does not have this feature, yet I believe the 002/002R does so why not this software/hardware combo? Was it left out on purpose?

Maybe because you can get low latency monitoring on PTMP ' by muting the record track and turning up the direct signal on the m-audio hardeware' it seems they all have that option so its pretty much the same result right? IE; zero latency ' no plugins.
