Default oo2r output comparison

hey all!
OK! my 002 rack has not blown up (yet) however i would like some peoples feedback on the fact the 002 rack has nowhere near the output of the 001 also and althought very clean the mic pre amps have to be run 35 to %40 hotter to get the same results as my old 001.(both used with u87's) even the level from the headphone jack is quieter!. Hey im not whining simply because it works!!!!!!!!!! and unlike others pt 6.7 is running great" no firewire issues" no power harness issues (yet) BUT this unit lacks balls " ommmph " pizazz " ophspa" volume. any ex 001 users out there agree?

IF....i could use a 001 with a G5...hell [bleep] yeah i would, when i got rid of the G4 and 001. i opened up my mixes on the G5 002, and they all distorted ...to me seems like the 001's were better. thats my 2 cents ... and since the 002's cant do 96kHz with the ADAT crap, i dont even use the 96kHz, and from my undestanding now you can do 96kHz with newer ADAT(lightpipe) devices, it just carries 4 channels per lightpipe, so yea digidesign should add that feature to the 003 ha.

what? my 002R never distorts unless i specifically tell it to do that. the output is very clean and doesn't lack any "oommpah". agreed, the preamps suck in gain levels, but i never use them anyway (as i have a focusrite octopre instead).

does this distortion problem have something to do with your monitoring system? my 002R is connected to a pair of genelec 8050's and everything is fine. i have also multiple times checked the output levels of 002R analog trs outputs with analog gear and it's just as hot as it can get.

(although everything is fine when the unit works, i have had four harness problems so far since october 2003 when i bought the unit. that's my ONLY gripe.)

+4 dbu is Still +4dbu.... with proper gain structuring there is no reason why one would be different from another @ the OUTPUTS

(Andyes, I have worked on both 001's,002Rs,& HD3)

I opened a project that I started on my 001 with PTLE 5.3.2, and it opened and played just fine in my 002R w/6.4. It only asked if I wanted the +12 faders or not.

I think the 002 sounds noticeably better than the 001. I've only had the 002R for a few weeks, but did quite a few projects on the 001 - even using an RME A/D/A box with it.

I didn't notice any significant (or even noticeable) difference in levels between the two. In fact, I haven't shipped/exchanged my 001 back to Digi yet (just got the RMA#) and my Mackie board has both the 001 and 002 faders set to very similar levels for playback.

I haven't noticed any input level differences, either - but I've only used the preamps for DIing my guitar.

Are you sure you have it set for +4 output and the monitor gain all the way up?
