Default Rackmounting a G4

Is there a cheaper way to rackmount a G4 than buying the Marathon kit? $250 seems high for two little pieces of metal to hold my computer in place.

None worth mentioning. And from an engineering standpoint, it may seem like "just two pieces of metal...." but it is built solid and supports the Mac from front and back. Something you can rack up and make it a portable rig and not worry about having it swimming around inside the rack while transporting it.

You're talking about racking a $2500 computer and can't see the worth of a $250 rack kit....OKEEDOKEE then....

If you are cost concious (which we all are) your best bet is to try eBay. Usually they have used Marathons for about $100. But then again, you have a $2500 cpu so the extra $ to protect it is worth it.

Good points. Ebay has a couple for about half price right now. Thanks
