I have LE + MBox, can I use someone else's 002

I have an MBox and LE 6.22 installed on my powerbook. If I borrow a friend's 002, will it be compatible with my system? If not, is there an easy solution for this? Thank you.

If you recall, the initial installation requires you to define what hardware interface you are using. Since you checked off Mbox, that is the only interface you can use right now. You would have to un-install LE completely and then re-install and select “002” as the interface.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong...

Actually I think you can without the uninstall. You need to go and install the 002 version as well as the mbox. Sometimes having both installed with 6.2 can be buggy and it's definitly unsupported. With 6.4 it's no problem though.

So you're saying I should:

upgrade to 6.4
install a copy of LE in addition to my existing copy while checking off 002 as my hardware.

Any other steps?

I recently plugged my 002 into a PowerBook that had just had 6.4 installed for Mbox - it worked perfectly without any reinstall.

Similarly, I plugged the Mbox into MY PowerBook, with 6.7, which had been installed with my 002 connected. Mbox worked fine. I've also plugged an Mbox into my PC (normally used with 002), Mbox worked.

This is really handy if you've got access to Mbox, 002 and 002 Rack. They all just work.

Don't think so - you only need to autho your system with the code inside your manual/guide, which is not interface-specific.

No, you don't need another auth code. The auth code enables the software, and doesn't depend on the hardware.
