HD Native PCI to Thunderbolt exchange

I am becoming increasingly irritated that Avid have still not offered a way to simply buy the Thunderbolt box for an existing PCI based HD native solution. The new Mac Pro looks super cool but is probably overkill for me and the main reason I would want it is the PCI card, but even there it would need a thunderbolt adaptor - so I end up with an expensive computer and still need an external enclosure for my PCI card. All of this would be mitigated with the little Thunderbolt box, and yet Avid want to force me to but the Omni I already own to get one!!

Can we start a petition or something or is this not an issue for most people?

Why not just get the Sonnet box? Probably would be cheaper even if Avid had an upgrade path.

Or you might put a "for trade" notice on this forum and in others.

You might have to throw in $100 - $200 to sweeten the deal, but it would still be cheaper than having to buy the whole thing all over again...

I guess th external options are ok. Anyone have advice on the Sonnet versus the Magma single slot thunderbolt expansion? I know the Sonnet is cheaper but is one quieter or more reliable?

One of the Avid tech support guys told me he has the Sonnet.

The OWC Helios works great with HD Native as well, according to a few who have used it and posted about it.

I use the OWC Helios for my HDN, it's solid.
