Default PT 8 LE Video problem

Hey, so this is my first post, I just installed PT8 on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard and I've imported a .mov file which shows up fine and I can click through the frames but the video won't play back continuously. I'm sure it's something simple, never had a problem before but I have a deadline for this project and I'm stuck. Any help would be much appreciated!

A) what codec is the video file?
B) for SL are you using the 8.0.3pr release?
C) there have been some other reports of Quicktimes not playing back properly under SL

Thanks for getting back to me and please excuse my ignorance but the SL is the 10.6.1 that came with my new MacBook Pro and all I know about the .mov file is that it's a .mov file, how do i tell the codec. All other sessions I did in PT 7 behave the same way.

yes SL is 10.6.x
.mov is just a movie file, open the movie up in Quicktime and press command+i to open the Inceptor window this will tell you if the codec is DV, MPEG, H.264, etc.

that is a vary CPU intensive codec
if you have a way to convert it to something like photoJPEG or DV (Quicktime Pro will work)

7777,

I'm about to buy a MBP. What is your setup hard-drive wise?
FW 800, 400? Audio interface?
How long have you been working in SL?
I assume you are using SL 8.0.4pr release version?
