still get input signals with input gains down
I have a digi001 and even with both gain knobs completely off, signal is still being fed to my tracks. If I add gain it boosts the signal to the track but I can't get rid of - or control - the signal. I would think that with both gains down that I should hear nothing nor see any signal whatsoever being fed to my track.
Anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong? Is it me or the 001?

Re: still get input signals with input gains down
I assume you are taling about inputs 1/2 on the front of the 001. these are gain controls, not volume in the traditional as I recall, fully counterclockwise is -60. It will not "turn off" the incoming signal, it simply will reduce it's amplification through the preamp to it's lowest level.
Same with the software settings for inputs 3-8. To reduce the level you hear, turn the fader down in the mix window. Hope this is helpful. Hope this is helpful. |

Re: still get input signals with input gains down
Lowering the mix faders lowers the input volume that I hear but has no affect on the actual input level that's pegging my meters. I should be able to control the input level (the signal being recorded) with the mix faders, not at the outputs of my source (a 2 chan compressor).
This sounds more like a signal routing problem. But what I'm doing is straight-forward stuff. I created 2 new mono tracks, the input is coming from the mic1 and 2 inputs from the front of the 001. The output is going to stereo 1 & 2... I record-enable the tracks, I see the signal - that I'm having to control the recording level from the source. What have I missed? Why aren't the faders controlling the input levels? Something just doesn't jive. Thanks!

Re: still get input signals with input gains down
Faders don't control input levels, they control mix levels.
TO adjust inputs 1/2, use the input trim controls (with or without the pad as needed) on the front of the 001. Inputs 3-8 have software sensitivity controls in the hardware set-up panel. Go to Set-up-hardware-(i think its then) more options(bottom left corner)and adjust the sensitivity according to what your source is. Reading the manual will be helpful as well, as this is all outlined in it in detail. Hope this is helpful. |
