Application Not Responding
Mac Mini 2018, MacOS 12.5.1, PT 2022.10
PT does not start, instead getting "Application Not Responding" message. I trashed the preferences and moved all Plug Ins to a temporary folder. I've rebooted, tried Safe Mode, and tried different user to no avail. If it helps, it works on my Macbook Pro 2017 - same MacOS & PT releases. I can transfer iLok licenses back & forth between the two machines. Also working with latest iLok release. Any thoughts/suggestions before dealing with Avid support? Thanks! |

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the response and apologies for my delayed response back to you. It's pretty soon after launch. I see the iLok authorizing message, but then I get the bouncing ball, nothing happens. I right mouse on bouncing ball - after maybe 10 seconds or so I see the "Application not responding. Not sure what you mean by "interface". For sound output I'm using small Focusrite A/D. But I tried switching to the both the Mac Mini speaker as well as the ProTools Aggregate Output with same result. |

Is it possible that the PT installer got tripped up by Monterey's System Settings >> Security & Privacy thing? Sometimes you have to give an installer permission in that panel while you are installing to let it finish putting all the pieces in place.

I double checked the Security & Privacy thing, but nothing jumped out at me - at least nothing obvious. Both Pro Tools and the Installer seem to have all the access they've requested.

Well make sure you've done the usual - everything listed here: Help Us Help You
Also, since you said the last thing you see is the iLok authorizing message, you might try switching your iLok to a different USB port - used to fix some issues years ago. Could also be a problem plugin trying to load. You could move all your plugins to the Unused Plugins folder and see if PT will load. If it does, then add the plugins back into the Plugins folder a few at a time to try to narrow down the problem plugin. BTW - your Focusrite device is the interface.

Well, I'm very happy to report that Avid support came to the rescue. After some back and forth via e-mail, Juan from AVID Global Customer Care - Pro Tools Support actually called me and got me up and running.
The likely source of the problem was that I had installed the HD Driver (which I don't need) and the version of HD driver was incompatible with the PT version. |
