Default omf to fairlight

am I correct in my understanding, from what I've read that there is still no way for Fairlight to import an OSX omf, usefully?

Fairlight wants to see OMF 1.0 embedded media unless you are using other tools like AVtransfer. Fairlight has numerous "illegal" characters. If there are clip names in your the fairlight won´t import.

Most fairlight companies I know use AVtransfer for OMF transfers so you can use OMF2 even with external media.

AVtransfer was the utility I used to use, and it worked 99.99% o the time.

there was another utility for mac called media magic that was suppose to work too

selling my fairlight exabyte drive if anyone interested.... got a few 8mm tapes with FX stuff on as a bonus!

Fairlight owns AVTransfer.

Media Magic worked like ass for us. Not to mention, it only works on os 9 and you have to use a USB dongle. I would avoid it at all costs. AV Transfer works well, but it's only available on a PC, which didn't really matter for us because we put it on our sfx server which is 2K. The newest version also converts Fairlight ML files to ProTools 5 sessions which is nice.
