Default Stop task manager

How do I stop this from popping up? It just comes up whenever it wants and gets in my face when I'm trying to focus on something. VERY distracting.

Please and thanks in advance.

Do you mean Window's Task Manager? That is most likely a Windows issue with nothing to do with Pro Tools. In any case, after 18 years of PT on Windows, I have never had this happen

You can right-click on any process in that window and cancel it which should stop it from popping up.

Thank you, though I was hoping for a more permanent solution - to prevent it from popping up to begin with. There must be a setting somewhere.

It's usually because you are missing some files in that particular session.

If you go thru the session itself and see what is missing, (which is usually a grayed out font of file names), you then remove those files. I find it's usually something that I don't need anymore and just either clear it from the regions or the tracks windows. Then save and re-open the session and that usually does the trick. Sometimes I have had to save the session as a new one to get rid of the problem. Ex. Export selected tracks in new session. then use that newly made session to fix it from having the task manager from popping up again.
