Hey SessionKat!
Hi SessionKat:
I wondered if you could find a reason for my crashes. They occur the second time I try and import audio into a session. I have a G4 1.2 running 9.2.2 to support a mix system (888/24). This model was the last to support 9.2.2, it also has OSX 10.3.5. I have noted the post on the digi answerbase that addressed this problem for those using OSX, the fix was to put the pro tools folder in the applications folder. Naturally, I tried this unsuccessfully. I ran this question by another user here: http://duc.digidesign.com/showflat.p...fpart=all&vc=1 Any ideas? tuchel |

Re: Hey SessionKat!
Hmmmm.....after reading all of Rail's questions for you in that other thread I'm drawing a blank.......is there any other app running when you do this? Any other app using Digi's HW outputs?

Re: Hey SessionKat!
Just the DAE.
I am likely to import files from the same drive PT will be recording to, is there something to that? tuchel |

Re: Hey SessionKat!
Hi SessionKat
Here it is many weeks later, and I am still having the problem. What I did discover today is that the DAE folder thinks it's 6.7 gigs in size. Pulling it into toast proves it to be in the 10 meg size. Could this be related to my problem and what would fix this? Thanks; tuchel |

Sounds like you're OS needs some cleaning up. When was the last time you ran Norton? Rebuilt the desktop? A clean install of Pro Tools could help as well. -tv

Re: Hey SessionKat!
Thanks for the reply.
I use disk warrior monthly. I had a bad experience with Norton back at the 8.6 OS and never went back. Are you suggesting Norton over Disk Warrior, or any Disk treatment program? I am rebuilding the desktop. It would be great if this solved it. I had previously re-installed PT before starting this thread. Thanks again; tuchel |

Re: Hey SessionKat!
The desktop rebuild did not fix the 2nd attempt of audio import crash.

Re: Hey SessionKat!
Have you considered a clean reinstall of your OS? Reformat and start fresh!

Re: Hey SessionKat!
It sounds like it could be a formatting/initialization problem with the drive(s). If your system sees your DAE folder as 6.7 gigs in size but is actually only 10MB. Then your system could be reporting that the audio files you are attempting to import are x gigs in size.
Even though OS X (and/or Pro Tools) claims to deal with files larger than 2 gigs, they don't do it very well or at all. As already mentioned, you'll probably need to copy everything off of your audio drives and system drive, initialize them with Apple's Disk Utility and copy everything back. Except for the OS and Pro Tools, use the installers for those. Jon Connolly Digidesign Product Speciallist |

Re: Hey SessionKat!
It sounds like good advice. I have a MMD G4, the last model to offer both 9 & X OS. I'm just making sure I can get 9 from my apple disks? I'm screwed otherwise.
And the firewire drives, do they need to be reformatted as well? Thanks for all your help. tuchel |
