Default Noob question about MBox 2, PT9 and Macbook Pro

This may be a noob question but would it be better to use pro tools with an MBox 2 or the internal soundcard? I ask because PT normally works fine using the internal soundcard but a friend is selling an MBox 2 for really cheap. Is it worth buying?

You're in the wrong forum. But since I use all that hardware on a mobile system, I will tell you that the MBox 2 sounds a little better than the MBP analog output, and the MBox 2 will give you mic pre's, dedicated monitoring control, and I think even MIDI. Compare "really cheap" to one of the newer MBoxes, or the Apogee Duet series, both of which will sound even better and be supported longer.

The MBox 2 would probably not work 'better...' - you would simply have an interface with multiple inputs and outputs- if you need that...

It depends on what you want to do with it. If you consider only mobile editing and no recording, I wouldn't bother with Mbox and use the internal soundcard. You don't have to take any other box and cables with you.
