Default High Sierra - new disk format?

Been reading in another music forum where a fellow's running the gold master of High Sierra (he was part of the beta test group) and he mentioned something about a new disk format other than what we now have for Macs. I did find a couple of things like at least in the initial release Fusion drive owners are SOL as the two won't work together. See here: https://www.macrumors.com/2017/09/18...drive-support/

And there's this: https://www.macobserver.com/tips/how...r-high-sierra/

What does this mean (if anything) for those of us still on spinner system drives? For someone like me who has multiple boot partitions can I safely put HS on an empty boot partition and not have my other partitions mucked up? I have multiple partitions because of the requirements of different programs I have on my daw.
