Question What headphones are best? Sony MDR-V6s or Sennheiser HD280s??

This is practically a poll. Anyone here has used both of these headphones with PT and is able to say which are best?
The application for which I need them is to monitor recording and to mix (not hardcore mixing, only "superficial" track volume/pan adjusting to even song arrangements out).

I´ve done a lot of research and found that the V6s are an industry standard. Also, they are lighter and put less pressure on the ear than the HD280's.
On the other hand, the HD280s are a lil heavier, more robust and durable (ear pads specially, the V6s pads deteriorate more).
Frequency response-wise, the reviews say both are pretty good, but the Sonys have more of a "V" response (less sharp on the mids), better for dance/trip hop kinda mixes (which is what I do). And the 280s offer a smooth and bold "powerhouse" response.

Anyone care to break this tie? Extend you answer as much as you want pls.

What do YOU think?
Seriously, you're the one who's going to be listening with them.
What's the "best" is way to subjective a question. I would say AKG 240's and really confuse you.

What's the "best" American luxury car? Cadillac or Lincoln. Cadi owners will say Cadi's... Lincoln owners will say Lincoln.

Use your ears. Don't buy cans (or monitors for that matter) based on popularity.
Test drive them.
Your opinion is the one that counts.

2 cents.

I usually chose based on;
1) Leakage… This will affect your recordings.
2) Comfort… this will effect mood.
3) Fidelity… this will effect performance.
4) Durability and cost… this will effect how many times someone cam step on the cord before they break ‘em and what it will do to the budget when you replace them.

Both good but the sony's have too much bass and the senheiser's have too little bass. But I think the hd-280's are better imo!

I think the Sonys have a bigger V as stated above = not very flat. The Sennheisers seem more honest. For long sessions, the Sonys are more comfortable, though. The HD280s will eventually break in, but are head squeezers for a while. I take those things off as soon as I can.

HD280 Pro's here:

No problem with comfort - I've done 6+ hour sessions with them.

Little to no leakage out - or in.

Very honest - what is sent to them is what you hear.

Very durable.

As previously stated, let your ears decide as no matter what others say, YMMV.

Cheers,

This is the kind of reply I am looking for. THanks Kirby B.

Maybe I oughtta reformulate my question. It would be like "What pros and cons have you found in the V6s and on theHD280s??"
