Default Crash when editing files with long file names

Hi.
Anyone else had the issue whereby you import a file with a very long file name from workspace, file goes into edit window after being copied to audio files folder. Then when you try to edit the file, protools hangs.
PT 2021.3.1
Can replicate crash every time.
Fix is to shorten file name in finder.
Going to be a major pain in the bum renaming all the long file names in the library.

cheers,
John.

Are you on Windows? There is a max filename limit (based on directory structure -- 256 characters including the full file path). When you start banging up against the limit, the OS and any program start having problems.

This can rear its head when you move a long-named file from a non-nested folder or folders with short names to a deeply nested folder and/or folders with longer names.

Looking at a past post of the op's along with clues in his first post here - words like Finder and Library which are Mac terms - he's on some version of OSX. I run OSX 10.13.6 and haven't run into such a problem. The older HFS file system has a max length of 255/256 characters. Don't know what the max length is for APFS filesystem. Also be wary of illegal characters in filenames.
