Wonder if Windows 11 will bring AVB support?
I couldn’t find any information.

It's quite hard to find good reliable technical information about AVB on Macs - it's a bit of a niche thing. So, no surprise Windows information is scant.

Good question.

Win 11might support it. Unfortunately, the added security requirements could turn out to be a massive can of worms.

Would this card from Sonnet work with Carbon on Windows?

https://www.sonnettech.com/product/s...pcie-card.html

The specs claim AVB on Windows, the price is very reasonable, and in this discussion on another forum, and not discussing Avid Carbon, a Sonnet tech says they have drivers and it will work.

There's a driver for Windows which is a good start.. The footnote (2) just says you need an AVB compatible hub/switch, which isn't relevant. There don't appear to be any Windows caveats. You could download the driver and see what shows up in Windows device manager - the manual says that is where the card is configured.

AVB information is so scarce on the net that it's really hard to find out which level of the OS is needed to support the function.

On a different note, those 10G cards have hefty heatsinks. I hope you have room in the box for plenty of air circulation.

Where does it claim AVB support on Windows? While the card supports Mac and PC, the AVB support is Mac-only AFAIK.

Unlike Mac, Windows lacks the AVB software stack to support AVB streaming. So, while you can get an AVB-compatible PCIe card to be recognized by Windows, it won't stream AVB unless you actually have proper 3P AVB software running. I don't think this is any different on Windows 11. But, I'd be very happy to be wrong if someone knows more than me.

That sounds like no Windows support for Carbon in the near or far future?
Wonder if Avid is working on a own solution /workaround for Windows support.

I, for one, am also eagerly waiting for Windows support.
Maybe a survey would be interesting to see who would buy a Carbon but is tied to Windows. Maybe that would move Avid to realize a AVB connection.
That can't be impossible, I guess...
