I really can't see how they got away with making dark mode so big a thing..
There should be a selection of a few skins first off..
And it's just one other nothing that will take from future updates..

I have been getting PLENTY of work done in Dark Mode. I also think it looks better on a Retina display.
Actually I have both I have a newer 27 in. iMac 5k Retina and an older 27"Apple Cinema display then with the user modifications from musicman69 et.al to the color text file (as per the other thread about it)
And then calibrating both to as close as possible I am really liking dark mode

I dig the latest dark mode. There's a short period of adjustment but once past, it's easy on the eyes.

If Classic Mode always available in the future, will be fine and decisive for purchase.
If i have a wish, try to include the old Protools 6 - 8 Silver Design too for switching, this was optical the best Protools! :)
Oh please - that was a horrendous gui.

Check out this longgg thread and you'll see some screen grabs of the modified dark mode changes I and others have done: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t...k+mode&page=49

Note that this is for a Mac. If you want drop me an email from a regular email address and I'll send you the dark mode file I'm using along with instructions on how to use it on your system.

To the OP ..Above is generous offer and unless you simply want to rant on Avid you might seriously consider it.

Here is what I am currently getting on my system based on Musicman's modifications, I left it full resolution and bigger size to show full benefit

So I am curious ::
Are the calibration options available in the (below method) not the "expert" ones MLaudio was talking about ???

On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Displays, then click Color.

Click Calibrate.

Display Calibrator Assistant walks you through adjusting your display, then creates a calibrated color profile. The number of adjustments in the calibration process varies depending on the type of display.
When the display profile is ready, it’s automatically assigned as your display’s color profile.

They are what I used to get my 5k Retina as close as I could, to my old 27" Cinema Display still not perfect but entirely usable
Here is what they look like
